Oil and gold leaf

Abundance and Butterfly

Abundance and Butterfly
18"H x 24"W
Oil paint on oak panel with gold leaf in the background. It was painted from life. The theme is abundance and I tried giving that feeling in how the objects rise out of the bowl. The vivid clarity in the color of the objects is to show that abundance is real.

Carnations and bee

Carnations and bee
18"H x 16"W
Oil paint on wood with gold leaf background. This was painted from life. The bee is one of many "models" which I usually find dead and then pin them near or one whatever still life set up I'm using. One benefit of having friends who know what I paint is that they often present me with dead insects they find as gifts. It's usually in tupperware, old coffee cups etc. and I'll often store them for later!

Urn, silk and butterflies

Urn, silk and butterflies
18"H x 24"W
Butterflies gently descend onto some silk while a peeled lemon, bread and other objects complete the scene. Oil and gold leaf on wood.
